His Royal Highness Alhaji Zulkarnaini Gambari Mohammed, the 9th Emir of Ilorin, was a wise, eloquent, and visionary leader whose reign brought progress, peace, and unity to the Ilorin Emirate. Appointed Emir in 1959, he also served as a Minister without Portfolio under Sir Ahmadu Bello, making him one of only three Emirs to hold such office. Fluent in Fulfulde, Hausa, Yoruba, and English, and deeply versed in Islamic knowledge, he was known for his powerful oratory and enduring sayings, many still quoted today. His leadership inspired education, development, and moral discipline across Kwara State. He remains a symbol of wisdom, faith, and service whose legacy continues to guide Ilorin’s people and history.
